My interest in piano started to take root when I moved from Florida to Michigan. It was during those cold winters when the snow encourages you to stay home that I began to teach myself how to play the piano. My first passion was blues and boogie-woogie. I was fascinated with the “Big 3” of boogie-woogie; Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis. A year later, after moving to North Carolina, I invested in an electric keyboard and started taking professional lessons. But the keyboard just couldn’t compete with the handcrafted stringed instruments on display at the Steinway Piano Gallery in North Charlotte. I found myself spending a lot of free time playing and learning about Steinway pianos. Having 15+ years experience working in the mechanical/electrical industry I was especially captivated by the inner workings of the piano. After 5 years of studying, apprenticing, and tuning, I became a Registered Piano Technician. I have great admiration for the art of Piano Technology and look forward to providing excellent care for your instrument so that it can continue to be used for years to come.
